The headline here is “Get access to 85% of my best business hacks.” As you can see it’s the largest text on the page. It leads the reader in to entering their email and then some additional text that explains what information you will have access to once you provide your email. Another excellent component of this landing page is that they have included a testimonial. Not only does this give some insight into what kind of person Noah is but it also gives the potential lead an extra push. The majority of the time a customer makes a decision before they even get to your site by reading reviews and testimonials.
According to the DMA’s consumer report, retail brands with a large online presence are best at email. Amazon tops the list for consumer mentions at 14% and was noted for both volume of emails sent and its use of email – in other words, doing the basics right. Marks & Spencer comes second with 10%, and Next, Tesco and eBay are joint third with 7%. But 60% of respondents don’t believe any brands do email well.
This article is informative, but it does not offer distinguishing features between the services covered (other than mailchimp is free). You seemed to go to great lengths to say good things about each – although I’m sure each services has positive aspects. I would have benefited much more from a rating of some sort of the various features of each service, or at least the pros & cons of each.
Funny timing that this post was put up today. I just had a meeting with a marketing consultant who was trying to sell my law firm on a whole new marketing package, including a new website, a social media strategy, etc. This person also said they had 10 years of experience in internet marketing. I told this person I thought each of the lawyers at my firm (who each have very different practice areas) should have an autoresponder set up. I said ideally each lawyer would have a “report” in the form of a PDF (available on their bio page) that would entice subscribers to download the report and sign up for the autoresponder.
As mentioned before, the type of email campaign you send depends entirely on your goals with email. If you’re looking to drive direct sales then sending marketing offer and announcement campaigns are going to return the best results, however if you are simply looking to keep your existing customers up-to-date on the latest projects, products or developments at your company, then sending a regular newsletter is going to be the best way to achieve that.

When I started our Internet marketing company 20 years ago, it was just me and a dream. That dream was to grow and be the best. Today, we have 47 employees, all in-house, in Clifton Park, New York. The average employee has been with us for 6.49 years, and 10 of us have been here for more than 10 years bringing our combined work experience to 305 years! Compared to our Ninja army, I can’t believe that there’s a more experienced or tighter team of SEOs in the world. If you’re shopping around for an SEO company, know that IMN wins on experience and knowledge.

In fact, by the time a potential customer actually reaches out to a person in your organization, 70% of the decision-making process will already have taken place. “Some curated content from previous newsletters or a more substantial piece of content would help cement the relationship from the reader who hasn’t actually had any benefit from Jimmy yet.  There’s a free email course linked in the menu which would be a good start, or other ideas would be to get readers to consume content from you in other channels.
Open-ended experimentation. This approach is similar to closed-ended experimentation except that more variations will be added for testing and experimentation will not stop when a winner is found. This method is used by large corporation to dynamically improve their conversion rates and improve user experience. Landing page can also be adjusted dynamically as the experiment results change to further enhance user experience.
However, if you are seasoned online marketer, and you've built a substantial following, then marketing as an affiliate might be the right fit. Jason Stone from Millionaire Mentor has built a seven-figure business with affiliate marketing, while David Sharpe from Legendary Marketer has built up an eight-figure business by creating an army of affiliates that market products in collaboration with his team.
A content specialist needs to be a Jack or Jill of all trades, utilizing excellent written and verbal communication skills, above-average computer literacy, and a natural interest in trends. This job is ultimately about translating the key aspects of the product into content the target demographic finds appealing. This is part art, part critical thinking, and 100% attention to detail.

Autoresponder allows you to easily map out and automate processes in order to engage leads quicker while also making day-to-day communication more efficient. I think this is the trickiest part of email – it’s like a tangled web that you really have to think through in terms of timing, delivery and most importantly, content! I know with your Internet Marketing for Smart People list, you promote the series at the sign-up. If you’re offering a cookie (i.e. ebook) for sign-ups, does it muddy the water too much to talk about the series as well?
The most effective way to do this is with variants of the subject header line. The subject header line is the first thing that your recipients see and as such is hugely influential on improving your email marketing open rates. This is because if the subject header line doesn’t grab your email subscribers, then they won’t engage with it. Under performing subject header lines are one of the most common reasons for poor email marketing open rates.
Testimonials are also a great way to induce people to opt-in for your emails and act as a trust building factor. Other than that, placement of your opt-in form is also very important. Your email opt-in form should be placed strategically, so that users don’t have to search for it. Opt-in form should be descriptive, and if you want people to take an action don’t be shy to ask.
The course work of a marketing program will consist of real-world and hands-on components, such as case studies of both successful and failed marketing campaigns, and simulated businesses marketed by students using the concepts they have learned. This will include diving into several computer programs like Adobe InDesign and Dreamweaver, as well as both free and proprietary website analytics software.

“Another massive problem is that there are hundreds of free blog posts with thousands of free headlines that all claim to convert and published by trusted sources in the copywriting/CRO community. There’s nothing special about this offer that I couldn’t already get for free with a quick google search. In other words, this offer needs a USP. Without it, there’s literally zero reason why I would want this over all the free stuff I could get from sites/authors I trust.
Purchased lists are ineffective, and they impact everyone else who uses Mailchimp, too. If you send emails to a list of people whose contact info you bought, many of the emails will get identified as spam. Some spam filters will flag a campaign if anyone with the same IP has sent spam in the past. When you use Mailchimp, your email is delivered through our servers, so if one person sends spam, it could prevent other users’ emails from reaching inboxes. But by forbidding Mailchimp users from using purchased lists, we increase deliverability for everyone.
The best approach here is to try your sends at different times and see which time/day gets the best open rates. In recent years, campaigns send outside of office ours have had really great open rates. This is because we all check emails on our mobiles nowadays and lots of people check their work emails on a Sunday evening, before going into the office on Monday morning.
Below, you’ll see the landing page for Night Notes. It’s an app that helps you focus on taking notes at night, has a simple but effective design that looks current and isn’t cluttered with unnecessary information. Their use of dark colors helps tell their brand story. Their logo is present along with a screenshot of their app so that users can get a glimpse into what they will be seeing if they download it.
Sarah Pickersgill at Cancer Research UK says it’s important to be clear what the charity wants to learn from testing and how it will add to the supporter’s experience. “Simple A/B testing is a great methodology for us, as well as gathering insight from heat maps.” Ultimately, the interaction rate with its supporters tells the organisation how it is doing, she adds.
Click through rates. Once your subscribers have opened your email, are they actually taking the action you need them to take? If you think that you have a low click-through rate, perhaps your body copy is not as effective as it needs to be. Consider the following: Is the copy of your email relevant to the subject line? Did you offer real value to your subscribers in the email? Is your call-to-action clear enough? Is the link easy to find?
